How to get from Cologne/Bonn Airport to Cologne and Bonn

Cologne/Bonn Airport

Cologne/Bonn International Airport (Köln/Bonn) is situated in the Cologne suburb of Porz, 15 km from Cologne and 16 km from Bonn. The second name of the airport is Konrad Adenauer Airport.

The official website of the airport is www.airport-cgn.de.

There is a railway station on the lower level of the terminal, so getting to major German cities is easy. Not only suburban trains but also high-speed trains to, for example, Stuttgart, Munich and Berlin pass through here.

From the airport to Cologne

When exiting the airport, you should keep to the following sign: a white letter S in a green circle. This is how the S-bahn – the railway – is marked in Germany.

To travel to Cologne (and beyond), you must buy a train ticket from a machine or ticket office when you enter the S-bahn zone. The cost is €2.6. The S13 train in the direction of Köln Hansaring is required. The destination is Köln Hbf. It takes about 11 minutes.

Hint: The vending machines have a table below the data screen, in which each city is marked with its own code; enter the code using the numeric keys, then the ticket price appears on the screen.

Train timetables (as well as reservations) can be found on the German Railways website – http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de.

There is a shuttle bus service, Airport Express Bus 670 or 161, between Cologne Airport and the train station. The fare is €2.20. The journey time is about 26 minutes.
