How to get from Warsaw Modlin Airport to Warsaw City Centre

Warsaw Modlin Airport

Warsaw Modlin International Airport is located 40 kilometres from the centre of the Polish capital. The airport gets its second name from the Modlin district of Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki, where it is territorially located.

It is a small airport with a single passenger terminal, used mainly by the budget airlines serving the Polish capital. However, the main airport in Warsaw and the whole of Poland is Chopin Airport.

According to the classification of the International Air Transport Association, Warsaw Modlin International Airport has a code ‘WMI’.

The official website of the airport is https://www.modlinairport.pl.

The only public transport ensuring a direct connection between the airport and the Polish capital is the ModlinBus.

Buses stop in front of the terminal across the street. The terminus of the route is Plac Defilad which is very close to the Old Town. The journey time takes about 40 minutes.

The timetable is tied to the arrival of the flights. Buses run up to 50 times a day in both directions. Tickets can be purchased at the airport, from the driver or in advance on the carrier’s website – www.modlinbus.com. Fares start at 28 PLN (although the advertisement on the bus reads eloquently about the price of tickets starting at 9 PLN).

All buses are equipped with free wireless internet access.

If you need to go to Chopin Airport after arriving at Modlin Airport, then you will need OKbus buses. The trip will cost at least 23 PLN. You can also buy tickets online – https://www.okbus.pl.

Alternatively, you can also take the Koleje Mazowieckie trains to Warsaw. Although there is no train station near the airport, Koleje Mazowieckie branded buses stop outside the terminal and take you to the local train station in less than 10 minutes. Buses come every 20 to 30 minutes.

Koleje Mazowieckie trains arrive at Warsaw Central Station. For convenience, the company offers a single ticket (Airport Ticket), which gives the right to travel by bus and train. Further details are available in the arrivals hall of the airport terminal.

Bus and train Koleje Mazowieckie

When is travelling by train preferable to travelling by ModlinBus? For example, when there are so many arriving passengers that all seats on the bus are taken and you have to wait for the next one. And in order not to lose time, Koleje Mazowieckie services are very useful.

You can also get to the Polish capital by taxi. The airport is served only by two taxi companies: Sawa Taxi and Taxi Modlin. The fares are the same – from 100 PLN to the city centre. The journey takes 35-40 minutes, depending on traffic.
