Dortmund International Airport is actually located 10 km from the city of Dortmund, on the border with Holzwickede. It is a small airport with a single terminal.
Currently, the airport is served by 7 budget airlines, such as Germanwings, Condor, easyJet, Wizz Air and others.

From the airport to Dortmund
There is a direct AirportExpress bus service between the airport and Dortmund Central Bus Station every hour. The journey time is 25 minutes. The bus runs non-stop. One-way fares are €6 for adults and €2 for children (6-14 years old). Children under 6 years of age ride free of charge.
Note: The Dortmund bus station is located next to Dortmund Hauptbahnhof (main railway station).
There is also the AirportShuttle bus between the airport and the nearby Holtzwickede railway station (from where you can take a train to Dortmund). The bus also travels non-stop. The journey takes only 5 minutes. The fare is €1.5.
It is also possible to get to Dortmund city centre by taxi for €22-25 (metered drivers).
Another option for getting into town from the airport: Bus No.440 connects the airport to Aplerbeck station, which is the terminus of the U49 underground line. There you can transfer to the U-Bahn U47, which runs towards Dortmund Hauptbahnhof via Stadtgarten. The journey time is about 45 minutes. The ticket costs €2.30.
From Dortmund to the airport

Either take the AirportExpress from Dortmund bus station or get off at the Dortmund Hauptbahnhof and take the U-Bahn U47 to Aplerbeck – on arrival, change direction and follow the U-Bahn to the stop of bus No.440 which takes you to the airport.
Or get from Dortmund to the train station Holzwickede, where you can get a bus every 15 minutes (from 5:00 am to 11:00 pm) to the airport.
Or by taxi.
